Colorful Colorado

Colorado is a colorful playground that features an adventure for almost any traveler! Whether you ski, mountaineer, love food and beer, or even an urban environment, you will love what Colorado has to offer.

Colorado features 300 days of beautiful sunshine, keeping all locals and tourists full of vitamin D with a happiness side effect! Although this does not mean there are 300 days of perfectly clear sunshine, I think most of Coloradans can agree that even partial sunshine is top-notch. And hey, if you don’t like the weather, just wait 20 minutes!

Although most people have heard about Colorado’s legalization of marijuana, this isn’t the only “high” you will find in the Rocky Mountains. With the highest average elevation in the country, the lowest point in the state sits at 3,315 feet above sea level. The highest elevation, tops in at 14,433 feet above sea level on top of Mt. Elbert (one of our favorite 14ers)! The nickname “Mile High City,” for Denver can be attributed to the cities elevation of 5,280 feet. As you arrive, you will no doubt notice restaurants, shops, and even beers featuring this trendy number. Beware, though, at such high elevations many can experience altitude sickness, stronger effects of alcohol, and even the sun is more intense.

The Colorado Rocky Mountains are a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you like to ski, climb, hike or even if you are a triathlete, we guarantee you will fall in love with Colorado’s purple mountain majesties! Colorado features four national Parks, 42 state parks, eight national wildlife refuges, and 11 national forests, and over 30 ski areas.
Getting to Colorado is easy as most major airlines service Denver International Airport. When you book a stay in a Colorado resort town, you can plan for a 2-3 hour drive to Summit County (depending on how many pictures you stop and take on the way). Renting a car at DIA is easy (which will be convenient at your Breckenridge vacation rental) but there are also a few shuttle services from DIA to various resort towns. If you are renting a car during the winter season, we suggest that you upgrade to a 4-wheel drive vehicle. This will make navigating a snowy Interstate-70 much easier!
