Features and Amenities
History meets sleek modernity at Villa Florence. Located on the second level inside Palazzo Bardi, which was originally built in 1420, this quintessential Italian masterpiece was expertly converted into eight apartments in 2000. Modern features, such as air conditioning and a well-appointed kitchen were added while preserving the classic Florentine architecture and original features: the courtyard with stunning pillars, plaster featuring 18th century frescos, large, arched windows overlooking the street -- you can almost see the artists & musicians gazing down to the streets below.
Villa Florence's open and spacious, 3,400-square foot interior will accommodate up to six guests. In the main living room, marble steps lead to the large windows that are covered with delicate white curtains and accented with exquisite wood shutters that beautifully complement the high, wood, open-beamed ceiling. The juxtaposition of the modern furniture against the classic architecture is unexpected yet most appealing. Where else can you find 18th century frescoes coexisting with Bauhaus period furniture from Eames, Le Corbusier and other top designers?
Retracting glass doors lead to each spacious bedroom. All three bedrooms are located on the main level and have queen-size beds, en-suite baths and flat-screen TVs. The phenomenal master bedroom has a couch and an extra seating area and is decorated with frescoes on the walls and ceilings. Its sleek, modern en-suite bath has a tub surrounded by marble, tile and mirrors. The en-suite baths attached to Bedrooms Two and Three are equipped with showers and have equally stunning finishes. Each bedroom has additional seating by way of an extra chair in each room and a small table and chair just outside the door.
The kitchen and living and dining areas are located together on the top level. A glass half-wall keeps the open theme flowing by opening up the view from the upper level to the lower level The sleek, modern kitchen is equipped with high-end stainless appliances, and what Italian kitchen is complete without an espresso maker?!
Enjoy your gourmet meals in the beautifully-appointed dining area adjacent to the kitchen. The mezzanine level dining area offers seating for eight, along with a cocktail and coffee bar, for both pre- and post-dinner drinks. When you’re ready to unwind, relax on one of the modern chaises in the living room area. Channel surf or get lost gazing at the exquisite, carved wood ceiling while thinking about the history that took place in that very building.
Although Villa Florence is a walk-up with no elevator access, it does offer modern conveniences such as wireless internet, a full A/V entertainment system, flat screen TVs with satellite, and a CD/DVD player. You will never forget the time you spent in this stunning and unique apartment. Ciao.
