A Hilltop Estate Above the Valleys of North County
Welcome to Chateau Viento, an extraordinary Spanish-style estate perched atop its own private hill in San Diego's scenic North County. Surrounded by rolling valleys, open skies, and uninterrupted horizons, this remarkable seven-bedroom retreat offers a rare opportunity to experience Southern California from an entirely different perspective.
Set east of Escondido along the road to Palomar Mountain, Chateau Viento is defined by its breathtaking setting. Here, sunrise spills across the eastern ridges each morning, while the day's final light settles gently into the western valleys. Accommodating up to sixteen guests, the estate combines timeless architectural details with expansive indoor and outdoor living spaces designed for gathering, retreating, and embracing the slower rhythm of the countryside.
From its hand-carved Cambodian wood accents to its multiple terraces overlooking the hills, Chateau Viento offers an experience that feels both grand and deeply personal—a private sanctuary where every room enjoys a view and every moment feels connected to the landscape.
Living Spaces
The main living areas unfold with effortless elegance, each room flowing naturally into the next beneath coffered ceilings and framed by handcrafted Cambodian wood doors and pillars. A sweeping curved staircase anchors the home, while expansive windows invite the surrounding hillsides indoors.
Designed for both intimate evenings and larger gatherings, the living room features a welcoming fireplace and custom built-in shelving, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere as the temperature cools after sunset. Throughout the home, thoughtfully placed seating areas encourage conversation, quiet reflection, and an appreciation of the ever-changing views.
The estate's generous proportions ensure that guests always have space to gather together or find a peaceful corner of their own, making Chateau Viento equally suited for family retreats, milestone celebrations, and extended stays with friends.

Location
Chateau Viento is ideally situated on the rural edge of North County San Diego, where Escondido's vineyards, citrus groves, and ranchlands gradually give way to the open landscapes surrounding Palomar Mountain.
Guests will find themselves within easy reach of regional wineries, farm stands, and local attractions, while San Diego International Airport remains conveniently accessible for arrivals and departures. The pace here is intentionally slower—an invitation to disconnect from the ordinary and reconnect with nature, family, and the simple pleasure of wide-open space.
Please note that weddings and events are not permitted at the property. Additionally, a separate accessory dwelling unit and staff office are located on the lower west side of the estate and maintain independent access.
Combining timeless Spanish architecture, extraordinary craftsmanship, and one of North County's most captivating settings, Chateau Viento offers a luxury retreat where the horizon belongs entirely to you.
As the sun slips behind the western hills and the valleys below begin to glow in the fading light, Chateau Viento invites guests to settle in, look outward, and let the landscape do the rest.
